Global warming: unsure plan of actionA first small step was agreed upon with the COP21 in 2015. Its goal is double: start curbing the global warming trend and generate private involvement to lower the costs of renewable energies and energy-efficient products. This first step is lame because nations are reluctant to rush. Governments fear a counterproductive backlash, if they punish their economy with entrenched unemployment from heavy regulations relying on the current expensive green technologies. Nations prefer to wait for the private sector to lower the costs of green technologies. Additional steps post-COP21 will happen counting on cheaper renewable energies and energy-efficient products. All these steps must happen fast, as climate experts are ringing the alarm bell to prod the world to act. The coming years must decisively accelerate the progress towards a carbon-free economy.
