After trying 4 commercial textbooks for my Environmental Economics course, and finding each lacking in different ways, I set out to create an Environmental Economics text that covers the basic material needed to teach this course in a standard semester, and nothing more. This slender book is the result of several iterations of trying it out on classes at Bemidji State University. I am hopeful you will find it readable, and that it conveys the power of using economic tools to explain why environmental problems occur and how they might have uses in minimizing those problems.
